Camping. (Rain.
[I'm intentionally leaving the closing parenthesis off since it rained ALL weekend.]
We camped somewhere over by Monticello. It was a piece of land Chris’ Dad owns.
It was a good time. Lots of eating. Hotdogs, burgers, cookies, marshmallows, etc.
Oh yeah, can’t forget the 5 hour game of Risk. Then the “Battle of the Sexes”. [which was obviously written by a woman]
We woke up Sunday morning to rain. At 0615. It was early, but fun. We packed up, headed home, and ate IHOP. Yum.
Sunday was good. Formula1, IRL, and Champ Car. Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad.
What more could you ask for?
Even with the fiasco of this year, I REALLY want to get tickets to see the F1 USGP event next year.
RIP Michael Park
Great quote from the best show on Television.
“It goes from nought to sixty, but just but.
I tried counting, but after 11 seconds, I got bored.”
This is in reference to the DaimlerChrysler Smart Roadster.
I’d also like to put a shout out to the Champaign County Courthouse.
They successfully wasted 16 hours of my life over the last two weeks.
I reported Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, and Today.
I was NEVER called up to be interviewed for a jury.
I’m going to claim that $0.23/mile that they owe me. It should yield a full dollar.
Not to mention the $10/day they owe me.
If I get summoned again, I’m writing a letter that will certainly get me dismissed for life.
I had a nice busy week last week.
I was so busy that once I finished everything up I was able to take Friday off and get some of the things I had been neglecting taken care of.
During the week Josh, Debbie, and I spent most of our time evaluating a wireless vendor’s new product line. We’re currently in the market for high capacity wireless solutions to use in lecture halls, auditoriums, and the such. I’m not sure the legality of me talking much about it, or naming any names, so until I find that out, I’ll just leave it alone.
What little time I snuck away from the Eval, I spent preparing for the Electronics Upgrade in Newmark. I added a nice new building entry switch, re-ran all of the fiber, and replaced all of the old Catalyst switches with nice fancy HPs. With Josh’s help I was able to have everything removed, replaced, and everything up and running by a little after 10am. (We started at 8) A few quirks with the wireless kept me there until 11, but it quickly got sorted out.
I finally got to the DMV to get my “M” endorsement on my license. So, I’m now an officially licensed Motorcycle rider.
My experience at the DMV was less than pleasing. Sitting/standing there for 2 hours only to take 3 minutes to complete what I needed to get done. But that’s another post I may or may not add.
I got my haircut, bought some groceries, and refilled my prescriptions. All was good.
Then after spying a few ladies out at the pool I decided to actually use the pool I’d been paying for over the last year and a half. It worked out well since I ended up making a couple friends and even went out to Steak N Shake with one of them Saturday evening. I think I’m going to try to hit up the pool every day that I can until it gets too cold. It’s surpisingly relaxing out there. Well….when there aren’t kids running around.
Other than that, I spent the majority of the rest of the weekend sleeping and watching some form of motorsport. It was an F1 weekend, so there was practice, qualifying, and the race to watch. NASCAR, BUSCH, Pikes Peak, American Le Mans, and various “minor league” circuit races were there to keep me occupied. The ALMS had a REALLY COOL segment where they had several cameras on one of the GT2 Porches. I could see the drivers feet, RPMS, Speed, Lateral G’s, throttle pressure, straight ahead view, an various track angles. It was really informative to see how the driver attacked each corner. Most interestingly, upon approaching a corner, he would reach over with his left foot and lightly pump the brake to get the pressure up before engaging them in a corner. That was the first time I’d seen that done.
So I had a nice eventfully uneventful week/weekend. This week is going to be even crazier.
If I get a chance, I’ll post more this week. If not, I’m sure I’ll have something next Monday.
Espelir JGT500R Cat-back Exhaust = $500
Espelir Downpipe = $190
Ultimate Racing High Flow Cat = $170
K&N Drop-In Air Filter = $80

Thats the plan for the summer, folks. Now I just need the money.
Such a good weekend.
I’m kinda busy at work right now, so I’ll post everything that happened, later.
For now, here are some pics.

Images 66-71 are from Sunday morning. I went on a cruise with (2) 2002 WRXs, a 2004 STi, and a 2005 STi.
Images 72-74 are of my weekend project. Thanks to Dad for his help and tools.
THIS is what I’m planning to do with my car next.
::Drools::
Its Friday morning. I generally like Fridays. Nice and calm at work, nothing drastic changes around campus, pretty calm.
However, I’m feeling a bit insensitive today. It stems from something that happened a few days ago. I’m not sure why it popped back into my head this morning during the walk from the parking garage to my office.
On nice days where I’m in no hurry to get home I’ll go for a quick spin around campus and sometimes down to Windsor. Its a great way to end the day. I’ll usually have the windows down and let the air rush around me. Its so very relaxing.
Now on to the fun part. I pulled out of the garage, drove south on Goodwin, and waited at the light like any normal driver, and watched as the other cars drove by. My light turns green. For some reason, someone thought it would be a good idea to turn the WALK sign on when cars will be turning right on to the perpendicular street. Its like this nearly everywhere on campus, so I’m used to it…..There were 3 girls crossing the street. Of course I can’t object to the looks I get by the girls as they walk by my new car.
Anyways, when the light turned green, the car in front of me drove forward, I was intending to turn right. By the time the previous car and gotten out of my way, the three ladies were in my path. The first two, who were quite slender and athletic, immediately recognized that they were impeding traffic and kind of skipped to get out of my way quickly, I was very appreciative. However, since there were three girls in the road, I had to wait for the third. Now normally I don’t attribute physical appearance to my immediate judgement of people, but in this case I couldn’t help myself. I received such a look from this last girl, that I was shocked. The look came as a “HOW DARE YOU look at me like I’m going to exert any energy to get out of your way!!!” The girl, unlike the previous two, was overweight and acted like it. Now whether or not she had some sort of condition that prohibits her from walking fast, I’m not sure. But it certainly wouldn’t have killed her to move a little quicker.
Now I’ve done my fair share of walking around campus and occasionally will walk through moving traffic, but I always try to get out of the way quickly. Most times I try to make it so the motorists don’t even need to use their brakes. (Brakes are for STOPPING, not driving)
Why did this girl seem so offended by the fact that I was trying to turn…ON A GREEN LIGHT? Was is that really a big of deal to hussle for half of a second to get out of my way so I could turn and let the line of cars behind me get through the light? Its little things like this that snowball and cause bigger problems in this world….
This fat girl decided the road was hers and she didn’t care who she affected by taking 30 seconds to cross the street. It caused me to sit there in the middle of the road, which help up traffic behind me. (This light isn’t the longest light either, because of this some people probably watched the light turn green 3 times before they were actually able to get through it)
All I ask for it a little courtesy from our beloved state protected pedestrians. Pay attention to the traffic, recognize traffic flow, DON’T be a hinderance.

I also noticed things about highway drivers on the way home from Chicago this past weekend. But I’ll get to that some other time.

I’m taking Monday off. Dad left me a message with an invitation to go play golf on Monday. Its his birthday, I have plenty of vacation time, I couldn’t say no.(not that I wanted to)
I’ll have to figure out my exact plans for the weekend. When I go, I usually go to Hoopeston Friday night and come back sometime Saturday afternoon. But since I’ll need to be there Monday morning for golf, I might as well at least stay over Sunday night….Since there is absolutely NOTHING to do in that town, I’m going to try to avoid staying there between Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening. Yeah it makes for 2 trips, but it preserves my sanity.
Dad, when you read this. Comment on which days you have off this weekend. I have a little project for us. ;) Here is a hint:
I suppose if all else fails, we can do it Monday after golf.

I should get to work now.
