I don’t know about that title, for some reason that phrase popped into my head the other day….and I like it.
I don’t think it has any significance, at least not for anything in my life.

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008Florida Vacation 2008
Friday, March 21st, 2008I had a nice relaxing time in Florida. I really wish I could have stayed a lot longer, but we’re sort of busy at work and I have another week planned in April so a week had to do.
This was my first trip with my new camera. I’ve only had it for a few weeks and was excited to get some practice taking shots with it. I think I did alright. A few times I had settings wrong and a few times I didn’t have the tripod level, etc, but overall I think I’m doing well.
I’m still learning and I figure that practice makes perfect.
My goal for the next few years is to travel a lot more than I used to. Whether it be with friends or just by myself, I don’t care. I need to take advantage of my vacation days and not let myself get burnt out at work like last year. A person can only handle so many 60 hour weeks.
I posted the pictures in my Gallery. A few are cropped but I haven’t had the chance to do any touch-up work on them yet, and I’m not sure if I’m going to.
Something about something
Thursday, January 17th, 2008Yeah, been a while since I’ve updated, I don’t care.
My passenger side headlight is out and if I remember correctly, it was a PAIN to change.
Today is my birthday, I’ll be on the phone with my Insurance company tomorrow. :)
It’ll be nice to have a bill go down instead of up.
Bah Humbug
Tuesday, December 18th, 2007I’m not exactly the most charitable person. I tend to avoid people collecting money or asking for charitable donations.
That isn’t to say that I wouldn’t donate to a charity or something I felt worth contributing to, but I don’t generally go for that sort of thing.
I don’t want to sound like a selfish jerk, I just feel like my money is better spent on those around me, not on new office chairs for the Salvation Army’s execs.
I was pretty upset with Dick’s Sporting Goods on Monday evening.
I went to buy a shirt and was greeted with the normal “would you like to sign up for our rewards card?” junk. I declined.
It was immediately followed by “we’re also accepting donations to the blah blah blah, how much do you want to donate; one, five, or ten dollars?” ……….
Notice it wasn’t “Would you like to donate” or “Do you care to donate.”
While the Charity they mentioned isn’t one I’m completely against, I didn’t like the feeling of being pressured into donating.
I don’t mind when places ask or put out the jar or whatever to passively collect, but putting in the form of “we expect you to donate, but you can opt out if you want to” is horrible.
Maybe the guy gets $0.30 for every dollar that gets donated, and this is how he grabs that extra few bucks, but I think its the wrong thing to do.
People want to feel like its out of the goodness of their hearts when they donate, they don’t want it forced on them. We have a name for “donations” like that, they’re called ‘taxes.’
People hate taxes because they are taken from us. We would feel much better about them if they were voluntary. (obviously if they were voluntary, most people wouldn’t pay) BUT, maybe if Uncle Sam didn’t make $5431421e21 in taxes every year, they’d think a little bit more about how they spent it. And if they thought a little more about it, better things would happen. And if better things would happen, you’d likely get more people to contribute.

Sunday, September 30th, 2007Vater Unser, der Du bist im Himmel. Geheiligt werde Dein Name.
Dein Reich Komme, Dein Wille geschehe, wie im Himmel, also auch auf Erden.
Unser taglich Brot gib uns heute.
Amen.
Fall is near…
Monday, August 13th, 2007Sunday I was happily surprised to see some pre-season football on TV. I’m sick of seeing the slacker MLB games on every night and I’m now looking forward to getting a decent sport to watch until Hockey starts back up.
There is this pet peeve of mine. It makes me wonder whether or not the people who decide where commercials go during shows pay any attention to the demographics that watch certain shows. I figure they must and that makes this certain pet peeve of mine that much more annoying.
- Feminine Hygiene/Tampon commercials during predominantly male TV shows.
Last night’s example was “Survivorman.” Now I’m sure there are plenty of women that watch this show, but I gather the demographic is largely male.
I’ve seen these types of commercials during Football, boxing, and bikini shows. Its almost like they expect the guys to inform their girlfriends/wives of the superiority of X Brand over Y Brand while he’s standing with her in the Feminine Hygiene aisle at the store.
All that said and done, here’s something to cheer everyone up.
Elisha Cuthbert
Wow.
Tuesday, July 17th, 2007I think the conversation was something like
Person: “There’s Synchronized swimming”
Me: “Synchronized swimming is dumb, why is it an Olympic sport?”
“Who cares if you can swim exactly like the person next to you.”
“Do they have a Solo Competition?”
Person: “Umm, I dunno”
Me: “Wouldn’t it then just be called _Swimming_?”
Well, little did I know. It actually was an Olympic sport
See Here
1984 1988 and 1992. Luckily someone woke up after 1992 and decided it shouldn’t be an Olympic sport….too bad they didn’t realize it shouldn’t be allowed period.
