Sick of Twitter

April 20th, 2009

I’m getting sick of hearing about Twitter. Seriously every show has something about Twitter now days.
Everything live has people Twittering, everything not-live seems to have someone talking about it.
Even CNN had some contest with Ashton Kutcher. Even the magazines in the checkout lane at Meijer had a headline about which celebrity Twittered what..

I realize Twitter is “cool” nowadays, but I’m sick of the media shoving it down our faces like the hot new thing. It’s been around forever, but everyone tries to act like they just discovered it and are making it popular. Get over yourself.

Now I need to figure out how to make all of the pictures work…

Serendipity (s9y) to WordPress Conversion

April 15th, 2009

I’ve been using wordpress as my photoblog for a couple months now. I’m really impressed with how easy it is to use and maintain.

I’m trying to figure out a way to convert this blog from s9y to wordpress.
S9y isn’t one of the stock conversion methods in WordPress so I figure I’m going to have to use one of those hacked together scripts floating around.

That said, I still really like s9y, but I don’t really want to maintain two different types of blogging software. If anyone has done this, let me know.

RC Helicopters

March 26th, 2009

So I picked one of these up…

It’s an E-Sky Honey Bee King 2.
I’m learning, slowly, but still learning how to fly it.

Here’s a YouTube video of some of my first attempts with not so fortunate results.
I guess my forethought of buying extra rotors was a good idea…

Hops!

March 2nd, 2009

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now and finally am getting around to it.
Thanks to donated land from Jim, I have a place to grow some Hops.

I decided on planting two varieties. Willamette and Cascade.
Willamette is pretty common in homebrew recipes so it’ll be great to have an abundant supply.
Cascade is used a lot in really hoppy beers like IPAs. I enjoy IPAs and wish to brew a few of my own, so this was a natural choice.

I’ll have the rhizomes by the end of the week and will hopefully have the ground prepared for planting soon.
Once I’m pretty confident the threat of frost is over I’ll get them planted and hopefully have a decent crop by the end of the summer.

I’ll try to document my progress as much as possible with pictures and stories on here. If you’re interested and I don’t post, bug me.

Anxious Much?

February 26th, 2009

Last night I had a dream about the first Formula One race of the season.
Other than Hockey there just isn’t much of anything on TV that I really look forward to right now.

I guess I’m just a bit anxious to get this season started.
